Who owns the Marines?
The U. S. Marine Corps falls under the Department of the Navy; however its command structure is similar to the Army’s, except it follows the “rule of three” and includes Marine expeditionary forces and aircraft wings. A component of the Department of the Navy, the Marine Corps maintains amphibious and ground units for contingency and combat operations. On, above and below the water, the Navy is America’s forward-deployed force and is a major deterrent to aggression around the world.
