Who uses NRS?
The NRS operates as a communication bridge to enable people who are deaf, hard of hearing or who have speech communication impairments and who use a TTY to communicate with hearing persons using a telephone via standard telephone service. NRS Chat is like online instant messaging. The user types their side of the conversation on a computer, tablet or smartphone and then reads the responses of the other person as text provided by a Relay Officer. NRS Chat can be used by anyone who is d/Deaf, hard of hearing or has difficulty using their voice.
