Should a rot board touch the ground?
From my quick research online they say that rot boards should be about 2” off the ground. There are significant areas though where the gap is 4” to 6” off the ground. Not only does it look aesthetically wrong but that big of a gap will allow each others dogs to get into each others yards, as well as possums, etc. When installing your fence, you should thus leave a small gap between the bottom of the boards and the soil by using rot barrier sleeves.
