Is Xcel a good wetsuit?
The Xcel Comp X wetsuit is the perfect blend of warmth and performance for any surfer looking to do their best surfing despite frigid conditions. The Thermo Dry Infrared liner in the arms gives the suit the mobility of a thinner suit, while the Thermo Dry Celiant liner keeps you as warm as some thicker suits. A wetsuit that is too small will feel uncomfortably tight and may restrict your movement, making activities like swimming or surfing difficult. You may also experience trouble zipping up the suit, especially around the chest or shoulders. If the wetsuit digs into your skin or causes discomfort, it’s likely too small.In general, a wetsuit should fit snugly, like a second skin, but not so tight that your range of motion is limited. The sleeves should fall at the wrist bone and the legs just above the ankle bone, and there should be no gaps, pockets, or rolls of neoprene.The biggest problem with swimming in a wetsuit is getting the fit right – which can be very challenging. Your wetsuit should be snug but not constrictive. Different brands fit different shapes, which may be why your most recent purchase is even worse than the previous.Although we find the Xcel size charts to be quite accurate, they are to be used as a general guide and if your measurements fall between sizes, we suggest choosing the next largest size. Wetsuits are so stretchy that you may feel that it fits even if it is actually too small.

Submitting a warranty claim does not guarantee repair or replacement. The Xcel Comp+ is a mid-level wetsuit with a top-tier vibe. After a month’s worth of testing, I am stoked to say that it is holding up to the abuse with little to no degradation. If I encounter an issue, Xcel wetsuits are backed with a one-year warranty on all seams and neoprene for peace of mind.
