Lake Anna’s public access portion (the cold side) boasts a number of public access facilities including marinas, parks, and public fishing areas. Is there cell service at Lake Anna State Park?
Lake Anna State Park should have very good coverage; I didn’t stay there but had strong signal while hiking for the day. Lake Anna is home to a variety of fish that are fun to catch and delicious to eat. Species include, Largemouth Bass, Striped Bass, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Walleye, & White Perch.There are only two beaches on Lake Anna, and we consider Pleasants Landing to be the best! Make the most out of a beautiful day by swimming, fishing, boating, or spending time on the beach at our park!Channel Catfish were first introduced into Lake Anna in 1972, and since that time a naturally reproducing population has developed. Most catfish range from 14-20 inches and average 2-4 pounds.Lake Anna is a top bass fishing destination for anglers residing in central and northern Virginia.The sheer diversity of Lake Anna has always amazed me. Never seen an eel in the lake? Just run a trot line one summer night baited with minnows. You’ll have a wriggling, hissing mess on your hands come morning!
Can you water ski on Lake Anna?
Lake Anna is equally as popular with pleasure boaters and watersports enthusiasts. Here you can enjoy power boating, sailing, water skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, wakeskating, wakesurfing, jet skiing, and swimming. Eel Lake. The waters of Eel Lake are outstanding for fishing, swimming, canoeing, sailing and boating. A trail around the south end of the lake allows hikers to get away from the developed area of the park and explore the lake’s many inlets.The lake has become a premier location for watersports such as skiing, kayaking, boating, and many others. Attractions near the lake include restaurants, lodging, vineyards, golf, shopping, hiking, and others.
What is the private side of Lake Anna?
The private side is formed of three main bodies of water, connected by navigable canals. This side has no marinas or public access ramps; only property owners and North Anna Power Station employees have access to the waters on the private side. The private side encompasses all of the land to the south and west of Dikes 1, 2, and 3 on the southern portion of Lake Anna. This side is not accessible from the main lake via water and there are no commercial businesses allowed along the shore of the private side.The private side does not allow commercial operation on its shoreline and you must be a property owner to access the water on the private side, as there are no public launch sites, NO MARINAS, NO RESTAURANTS, etc. NOTE: the two sides are separated by three dykes, so you cannot cross to the other side by boat.

Is there a charge for the Lake Anna State Park? Yes, there is a parking charge for passenger vehicles of $6 on weekdays and $7 on weekends. Prime weekends include an additional $2 charge. If you’re visiting the park and are a Virginia resident, you save $2. Swimming? Yes, there is a public swimming area at the state park and there is a charge of $3 for those over the age of $13 and $2 for children aged 3-12 during the week.
