Our Verdict. The ION Tailgater Tough is alright for outdoor use. With an IPX5 rating for water resistance and a sturdy plastic body with dense rubber accents, it has some protection from the elements and seems fairly tough. Built tough, with an IPX5 water-resistant rating, the Tailgater XL can handle outdoor conditions with ease.
How to charge an ion tailgater?
The Tailgater Tough comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging. This cable needs to be plugged into a charging block with an output that is exactly 5V with a minimum of 2A (or 2,000 mA). This will be printed on the charging block. For the quickest charging time, power off Tailgater® TD and use the included USB-A to USB- C® cable to connect the USB-C® charging port on the rear panel of the speaker to a USB power adapter (not included) connected to a power outlet, or your computer (powered on).For optimal charging, power off the speaker while charging. Use the included USB-A to USB-C® cable to connect the unit to a 5V, 2A power adapter (not included) connected to a power outlet and let it charge for up to 5 hours (depending on the specifications of your adapter).This cable needs to be plugged into a charging block that is 5V with a minimum of 2A (2,000 mA). Some charging blocks that come with phones may not be enough. A 1A power block will underpower your speaker, causing the battery to have a short life or not power the speaker on at all.
