Is the Glass Bottom Boat Tour worth it?
All in all, I would recommend trying the Glassbottom Boat Tour at least once because if you’re visiting Catalina, it’s a must. It’s one of the cheaper things to do and it is enjoyable. For me, I wouldn’t necessarily want to make it a yearly tradition because there’s not that much to see. Regular glass-bottom boat tours run about 30 minutes. For those curious to know even more about Silver Springs, extended 90-minute tours are available throughout the week at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm.Glass Bottom Boat tours run every 15-20 minutes, 365 days a year. Reservations recommended as we often sell out. Limited walk-in seats are available on a first come; first served basis daily.
What should I wear on a glass bottom boat tour?
Recommended Dress We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and sensible walking shoes for the boat ride. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also suggested. Restrictions The minimum age to participate is 3 years of age. Clean-soled sneakers or rubber-soled sandals are acceptable alternatives if boat shoes are not available. Keep Shoes Dry and Clean: Before boarding, ensure your shoes are clean and dry to avoid tracking dirt, sand, or mud onto the boat. Keeping the deck clean enhances safety and prevents slipping hazards.Regular shoes — especially ones with hard soles or small stones stuck in the tread — can easily scratch the yacht deck, leave black marks, or even damage the gelcoat. Scuffed wood, dents, or stains are expensive to fix. Yacht deck repair is not only time-consuming but also costly, especially on luxury vessels.Jean pants, jean skirts, long skirts, and leggings would be ideal. Tips: Choose bottoms that allow for easy movement and comfort. You want something that is boat resistant, wind resistant and comfortable to get up and sit down in! Men…Jeans, khaki pants, you could even wear shorts if you are a warm body.Sailors will not be boated without proper footwear. We strongly recommend that sailors wear bathing suits, tech t-shirts (ideally long-sleeved), closed-toe shoes, hats/visors, and sunglasses. Cotton t-shirts are not comfortable when wet, which they will become!
