Waikiki Beach continues to be one of the most popular and well-known spots for Waikiki paddle board activities. This crescent-shaped beach has smooth waves, calm water conditions, and landscape views of the famous Diamond Head crater. On the Diamond Head end of Waikiki Beach (across from Kapiolani Park) is Kaimana Beach, which is less crowded, and an easy walk. For UNcrowded beaches, you need to go to the Westside-Mākaha, Mākua, and Keawaula Beaches.Located on Oahu’s North Shore, Laniakea Beach is aptly nicknamed ‘Turtle Beach. This is one of the most popular places on the island to catch a glimpse of turtles in the wild, especially at sunset. Here, you’re most likely to find turtles basking in the sand or swimming nearby in the bay.Lanikai Beach Lanikai Beach is a hidden gem nestled on Oahu’s windward coast. It’s helpful for some people to think of pulling the board past the paddle rather than pulling the paddle through the water. Windy Conditions While a light breeze can be refreshing, strong winds can make paddling challenging and exhausting. Check Wind Speed: Use a weather app to check wind conditions before heading out. Winds above 15 mph are generally not recommended for paddle boarding.Avoid offshore winds. They will quickly blow your paddleboard far out to sea, which can make it extremely tiring and difficult to paddle back to shore. Avoid launching in windy conditions. You should wear a suitable personal flotation device.Morning Paddleboarding: Calm, Refreshing, and Energizing Most of the locations, the mornings are the best times to find calm waters in the ocean or lake. The less wind there is means that the water surface will be smoother and the easier for paddling.

This is because you’re recruiting large muscles such as your back and arms to paddle. The larger the muscle group you recruit, the more muscular strength you build and the more calories you burn, which can help burn body fat (including belly fat).On average, 45 minutes of paddle boarding can burn 247 to 345 calories, based on the typical rate of 330–460 calories per hour during recreational paddling. That’s nearly double what you’d burn walking at a relaxed pace, making paddle boarding an efficient and enjoyable way to stay active.
