Can I camp on the Apostle Islands?
Camping is available on 18 of the Lakeshore’s 21 islands, and at one campsite on the mainland. The mainland campsite is only accessible by kayak or a 6-mile hike on the Lakeshore Trail from Meyers Beach. There is NO drive up car, tent, or RV camping available in the Apostle Islands. Apostle Islands Cruises provides narrated cruises and lighthouse tours throughout the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The cruise service, located in Bayfield, also provides camper shuttles and island access for private groups. Contact them at 715-779-3925.The Apostle Island area is great to visit during summer, fall or winter. These seasons have all something to offer. During the winter time the lake freezes so you are able to walk across the lake and see some stunning ice formations. Fall on the other side offers a wonderful foliage up in Northern Wisconsin.
