Is Pirate Cove worth exploring?
Pirate’s Cove Beach is a very special place, for those who can find this hidden gem of a place in coastal Newport Beach. I’ve been to this beach a few times and it seems every time I go during the warm months, there is some kind of wedding ceremony or baptism or company bonding day or something going on down there. Before you read any further, yes, Pirate’s Cove is a nude beach, so don’t be surprised if you see naked people hanging out there and let this be a warning if going with your family. That being said, the beach and the cave are incredibly beautiful.Its accessible by parking at Secret Harbor Parking area and walking down the access road until you reach the vault toilet and take the trail to the lakeshore (1/2 mile walk from the toilet). There are no picnic tables or BBQs. The beach is 300 yards long (in low water) and accessible by boats (no dock/ pier available).This is one of Lake Tahoe’s nude beaches and if you wear a bathing suit you might be in the minority. Many regulars take pride in keeping the Secret Cove Beach clean, fun and friendly. Get there early to claim your spot especially when the Lake Tahoe water level is high and sandy spots become limited.

Pirates visit the cove after 8pm on non-rainy even-numbered days of the season. If the player is inside the cove before 8pm on a day when pirates come visiting, the player is automatically removed from the cave and placed outside its entrance, ending any current activity there.
