Can UVU students play BYU intramurals?
Non-BYU students are no longer allowed to participate in BYU intramural activities after the university changed their participation rules this semester. These rules, together called the Honor Code, are accepted by every student before he/she attends. These standards are a big part of the reason for the students’ desire to attend BYU. Abstaining from tea, coffee, tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs is already part of the LDS belief system.BYU is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church teaches its members to abstain from consuming alcohol. BYU students pledge not to drink alcohol or use drugs when they annually sign the university’s honor code.Brigham Young University’s Honor Code, which all BYU students agree to as a condition of studying at BYU, prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, etc.
