If you have very wide hips or big thighs, that might be more difficult to accommodate than a big belly.If you do any amount of consistent swimming, bicycling, or hiking then you’re already in good shape for kayaking. We even have quite a few clients that are in their 70s that do kayaking, so hopefully that gives you a sense how what fitness level you’ll need for a day on the water.

Generally, kayaking is a safe way to spend your time. It is also low impact, making it a great way to stay fit. Some of the techniques are very contra-intuitive. It’s well worth getting proper tuition so that you don’t acquire bad habits. And of course, safety is extremely important.Kayaks are designed with a low center of gravity and a broad base, making them exceptionally stable and difficult to tip over.The difficulty beginners have with paddling is they are not aware of what is happening when the wave hits the board. They need to paddle hard until the board takes off in front of the foam. This requires some strength and after a while some stamina. Beginners have difficult focusing because they are anxious.
