What can you use instead of a pool pillow?
Just use an innertube/float that you have. They hold up better than those pillows. I switched to inner tubes 3 years ago. The pool pillows never last. Just fill it enough to look full, not as if you would use it to sit on. ALSO, put a piece of styrofoam board or something on top.
What are the benefits of pool pillows?
They help maintain even water pressure on all sides of the pool cover and prevent it from falling into the pool during strong winds or storms. Pool pillows are also important for preventing damage caused by wind or heavy rainfall when closing up your swimming area after use. When water freezes, it expands, potentially exerting dangerous pressure on your pool walls. By placing an air pillow under your winter cover, you create a buffer that allows ice to expand inwards rather than outwards, significantly reducing the risk of damage to your pool’s walls and liner. If you didn’t use a pillow, the pressure from the ice pushing on the walls could damage the cover, liner, and the walls themselves. In other words, using a pool air pillow can save you from costly repairs and replacements. It’s cheap insurance that’s well worth having.A pool air pillow is a must-have tool for any above-ground pool owner. It’s an inexpensive and easy way to protect your pool from damage caused by rain, snow, and ice during the winter months. And not only does it protect your pool, but it also makes the process of winterizing your pool much easier. The air pillow will be more effective if it remains in the center of the pool. Keep the pillow in the center to help evenly distribute ice and snow. To make sure it stays in place you must use the grommets on the pillow to attach string to it.
What can you use instead of a pool pillow?
There’s really no pool cover pillow alternative. While it may be tempting to use something you already have on hand, like an exercise ball, beach ball, or pool float to help distribute the water, that won’t work the same as a specially designed air pillow. You should inflate the air pillow to about 60% of its capacity to allow for compression. You should also place two strips of duct tape over the air valve to ensure the pillow doesn’t deflate over the winter. The air pillow will be more effective if it remains in the center of the pool. When winterizing an above ground pool, add an air pillow to the center of the pool before adding the cover. The pool pillow will help absorb the expansion of the pool water when it freezes and will help with pressure on the cover from snow accumulation.
What’s the best thing to put under an above ground pool?
Mason sand is probably the most common type of above-ground pool base material. Mason sand is also easy to install and is a softer material, making the pool bottom soft on your feet. What’s more, is that it effectively protects the pool liner from stones or sharp objects. We recommend that the best base for an above-ground pool is a gravel foundation, combined with a pool pad.
