Germany finished second with 12 golds and 27 medals overall. Kjetil André Aamodt of Norway is the most-decorated Olympic alpine skier with eight medals (four gold, two silver, two bronze).
Who boycotted the 2022 Olympics?
On 8 December 2021, the United Kingdom and Canada joined the United States and Australia, whom both announced diplomatic boycotts of the 2022 Winter Olympics. In December 2021, the government of Latvia announced that it would not send diplomats to the games. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, which began shortly after the 2022 Winter Olympics, the IOC banned Russia and Belarus and recommended that other international sporting organizers do the same on 28 February 2022.
