What material does Hyperlite use?

At the heart of our products is Dyneema®, a material that looks like a fabric but is scientifically closer to a high-tech, multi-layer laminate. It’s famous for being stronger than steel at a fraction of the weight, and it’s what allows us to create exceptionally light, durable, and weatherproof gear. Innovating the next generation of Dyneema® fabric was a team effort. Check out our latest video featuring an interview with our Founder and CEO, Mike St. Pierre, and our friend Chiharu from Avient- the makers of @thedyneemaproject.

Where is Hyperlite made?

By producing superior products more efficiently and effectively, this young company is keeping up with the global Goliaths and keeping jobs right here in Maine. Hyperlite gear has journeyed from a rehabbed 1880s mill in Biddeford to all seven continents. Hyperlite Mountain Gear is headquartered in Biddeford, ME.

Is the Hyperlite durable?

Exceptional durability thanks to majority 150-denier Dyneema construction. Good carrying capacity-to-weight ratio. Waterproof materials throughout. Exorbitantly expensive, even in the context of the pricey ultralight category. Ultralight and Ultra-Strong — Dyneema fiber features an amazing strength-to-weight ratio. If Dyneema was the same weight as steel, it would be 15X stronger. Extremely Water-Resistant — Dyneema composite fabrics don’t absorb water, making them ideal for UL shelters and tents.
