The Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries, Louisa County and Spotsylvania all patrol the lake to ensure the safest possible environment. Lake Anna is one of the largest freshwater and inland lakes in Virginia, covering an area of 13,000 acres. It is located 72 miles south of Washington, D. C. Louisa and Spotsylvania counties, with its’ norther tips reaching into Orange County.
