How hard is kneeboarding?
Kneeboarding is great way to introduce kids and adults to towed watersports. It involves more skill than tubing, but isn’t as difficult as waterskiing, wakeboarding or wakesurfing. Kneeboards typically require a boat speed of 15 to 20 MPH. For new riders and youth riders, boat speeds typically go as low as 10 MPH, with incremental increases in speed as the rider’s confidence grows.To start first lay on the kneeboard on your belly and firmly hold the board or the rope. Is kneeboarding harder than wakeboarding?
Kneeboard riders are strapped in with a velcro strap across their thighs, offering a secure fit without the need for the full-body engagement that wakeboarding demands. This makes it easier to get up and learn for those new to water sports, especially when it comes to maintaining balance and control on the water. Kneeboard/wakeboard ropes differ to water ski ropes as they have little to no stretch. Unlike slalom skiers, kneeboarders and wakeboarders rely on their ability to load up the rope, generate speed and propel themselves off a wake. With no line tension, riders will find it difficult to progress their skills.Learning to wakeboard is difficult, and by far the most daunting part for beginners can be getting up on the board. But, like anything in life, all it takes is practice, patience and knowing where to begin. Start by floating on your back with arms straight out, holding the towrope.We recommend wakeboarding from aged 10 years and over. Children aged 6 – 10yrs should start on one of our multi activity boards (omnia or chipper) which can be added to a wakeboard tow session during the booking process.Unlike wakeboarding, which can be more physically demanding and challenging, wakesurfing is generally considered to be easier to learn and suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels. It’s also a great way to enjoy the water and get some exercise while enjoying the thrill of riding the boat’s wake.
Is kneeboarding bad for your knees?
No. Generally, kneeboarding is not bad for your knees. Knee pain when kneeling can result from conditions such as bursitis and arthritis. The pressure resulting from kneeling or repeated movement can cause pain in the kneecap.
