Do goggle straps go under or over swim cap?
Wearing the swim goggles over the swim cap can also be more comfortable. If the swim goggles are under the cap, they are locked in place by the tightness of the swimmer’s cap. When the swim goggles are locked in, it can feel constricting, especially if the straps have already been over-tightened. Swim caps can provide an extra layer of protection against water entering your ears. Choose a cap that covers your ears entirely and fits snugly without causing discomfort. For the best fit, consider getting a custom-made swim cap that is designed specifically for your head shape and size.
Why do swimmers dip their goggles?
One of the primary reasons swimmers wet their goggles is to prevent fogging. When you swim, your body generates heat, and the cool water outside the goggles creates a temperature difference. This can lead to condensation forming on the inside of the lenses, obstructing your vision. You can also use toothpaste to help prevent fogging. Simply add a small amount of paste to the inside of your lenses and gently brush it with a clean toothbrush. Rinse the paste away and you’ll still be left with a thin layer of it that helps keep your swim goggles from fogging.
