What month do baptisms happen?
When should a baby be baptized? Babies are usually baptized within the first few weeks or months of birth. Once children are of school age, over the age of 7, they will be received into the church through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults adapted for children. If you have a child to be baptized who has reached catechetical age/the age of reason (Grade 2 or 7 years), you and they will receive different preparation. Having sufficient understanding, the preparation will now be for the full complement of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.Who can be baptised? Any adult (or a younger person old enough to make his or her own decision) who wants to follow Jesus Christ should, after appropriate preparation, receive the Sacrament of Baptism. Thus anyone may receive baptism – one day old infants all the way up to the elderly in hospice care. Families seeking baptism for an infant or child, or youth or adults seeking baptism should contact the pastor for consideration of and preparation for baptism.
